Amber, Ezra and I on his first halloween.

I'm a Satyr (half man, half goat), Amber's a Fairy, and Ezra's half Fairy, half Satyr (I guess that makes him 1/4 man, 1/4 goat, 1/2 Fairy) I originally wanted to go topless, but it was FREEZING, so we had to settle for flesh colored shirts.

For years I had wanted to make digitigrade feet, both for a satyr costume, and for a Satan costume. The problem was that I kept working on the dragon costume up until a few weeks before halloween, and never had time to work out a working solution. Raph and I did make some good stilts out of and old pair of crutches and a pair of rollerblades, but they proved too wobbly to be useful. We were trying to make some sort of 4 legged cat/windstrider/dragon creature, but it never worked out. This year I finally decided to work on the satyr costume from the start and forget the dragon for a year. After a lot of searching and testing, I decided simulated digitigrade was going to have to do, especially since I would be carrying Ezra and couldn't afford to fall.

I bought a large block of foam up in Flag. and carved it with a razor blade to make the knees bend the wrong way. It was remarkably effective. People kept asking how I got my knees to bend that way =) The hooves could use a little more work (especially Ezra's), and if you look, you can see the back of my foot. But over all I think it was pretty good. I plan on using the padding again for the dragon's legs if I ever finish it.
