Welcome to my very random site. Here you will find many interesting things, none of which may interest you.

I have always wanted to be an animator, but never had the time, so I just tend to do animation tests, and never get on to actual projects. I have included here some strange animation tests I have done.

I also have pictures I have created using the wonderful open source image manipulation program The GIMP. For those of you who don't know what open source software is, it's free software. But not just free as in free beer; it's also free as in free speech. When you get open source software, you also get all of the code that was used to create that software, and most importantly the right to change the code however you see fit. If you are not a programmer, this might not seem like it will do you much good. But the great thing about the open source community is that there is always someone out there who knows how to program, and is willing to donate all of the changes he makes back to the community. This leads to all sorts of great plugins and derivative software.

Take the wonderful Firefox web browser for example. It's an open source project based on Mozilla, which was also the basis for Netscape Communicator. Firefox is a free alternative to Internet Explorer, which is much more secure, and offers hundreds of useful plugins, such as Stumble Upon. Some people in the open source community liked the easy html editor included in Mozilla, and decided to make a derivative based on it. It's called N|vu, and is being compared to Dreamweaver and Microsoft Front Page. There are many other open source projects out there, most notably the open source operating system Linux. I have replaced Windows on my laptop with Ubuntu Linux, and I love it.

Speaking of Internet Explorer... those of you visiting this site with IE may notice that the barbed wire that comes up under links has a white background. This is due to Internet Explorer's inability to display .png's with a transparent background. I could fix this by making the backgrounds black, or using the proprietary .gif format, but I would prefer to show people the inadequacies of their browser of "choice", and let them know there are better alternatives, such as Firefox.
